We understand that we're in crisis,
but we believe targeting only the State's three HBCUs in order to get a better control of the State's $370 million deficit is not equitable. Moreso, we feel it's a step in the wrong direction: imbalanced resources & funding for HBCUs followed by school closures.

  • Promote, Protect and Ensure an equitable higher education of Mississippians
  • Communicate a message of Solidarity with impacted Institutions
  • Maintain constant contact with our legislators about our concerns on this Proposal
  • Open the floor for relevant, concise dialogue on protecting the future of HBCUs
  • Broaden our base of support outside of demographics and color lines
  • Prevent the phasing out or closing of our beloved Institutions of Higher Learning

Joining the dialogue and collective action must be a mainstay in our focus. Governor Barbour's Proposal, albeit outlandish and divisive, does claim to open the door for discussion and strategizing of other methods, so we should take him up on that. Quickly. :: more
